Only Steps Away

A Poem by Tilian Darko

Though we are arm's length apart we feel broken.
Yet we still reach out to the other.
My heart aches, as my touch struggles to make contact.
Eyes watering, full of sadness.
As the roleplay goes on we wish we could be our own characters. Holding the other to give the comfort they need.
Letting out emotion near the other.
That emotion lets the other make them feel safe.
As we see each other through a glass, we pound on it.
Trying to get to the other.
Crying and yelling, just wanting the other to help with their own pain. Just wanting the other to repair their broken pieces once more.
One of our hands is on the glass.
The same place as the others.
We mouth "I love you." knowing one day we will return to Siberia.
