Lady Winter

Lady Winter

A Poem by PP
"

Personification of Winter as a lady!

"
Lady Winter descends the seasonal stairs
With graceful composure and an elegant demeanor,
Eclipsing the Sun God,
She carelessly descends, she smirks -
to see its chagrined face.
Yet she descends wearing her graceful dress.
Carelessly but effortlessly -
She spreads the cold fire upon each soul,
Her chilly breath spares no ghost..
Moody mornings she has, so does the ones she embraces.
She imposes long silent nights,
To weave romance in many young hearts;
Tucked away in cozy corners
by the wood burning fire..
Her aroma fills the lives of ones she beholds
With pleasant smell of love and hope,
Just when her giving wasn't enough-
She weeps so that she can cover her loved ones with snow..
She weeps yet weeps so silently,
She pours out divine impeccable flakes of purity.
She touches down on all our hearts..
O' so sweet is the Winter affair..

She pours out divine impeccable flakes of purity...

I will never look at snow the same way again... This is a beautiful, richly imaged poem, Prathama.

Thank you Pryde, I am so glad you enjoyed it :) I need to catch up with your writing :)
The lines of this speaks out and I like the way you convey personification of the piece...as a reader...yet the verse can be modified a bit to give the read a better out look within areas of the passage...Thanks for the RR to this one...I have not read one of yours in quite some time...busy with copy writes and final manuscript with the book: "The Onyx - Vena Amoris"...should be out any time now for purchase...but if you would like me to get more into detail with this one --- let me know and I will address this here or an email...Good day...

Thank you Leslie :)
I like the idea of personifying things such as seasons through poetry. And I like seeing your interpretation of winter as a rather elegant figure. I agree with that depiction but also have a tendency to think 'she' may be destructive... weeping to cover her loved one's with snow - In my idea of winter as a person I would think she would be trying to suffocate all life around her... (sorry just caught up in thought here)

It's a lovely poem - I did enjoy reading it. :)

You're welcome - and thank you too then haha
I like the sentiment conveyed in this poem Prathama although I personally hate winter and see the devil rather than a benevolent fairy. Didn't like the use of 'descends' three times in six lines without real poetic cause.

Thanks for your opinion John:)
dear Prathama... very poetic..
I especially like the last lines..
"she weeps yet weeps so silently,
She pours out devine impeccable
flakes of purity, she touches down
on all our hearts...
O' so sweet the Winter Fairy."

Thank you Latifa, winter lady is much pleased :)
What a delicious experience that thought most probably was, but hey, maybe not so random after all...

Shall I compare thee to a summers day? Thou art more temperate etc etc...( sonnet 18 Mr.W. Shakespeare) You see, everything has its polar opposite my friend. A delightful poem nevertheless.

All Good Things,

N
