Edge of a cliff: Getting Ready!

Edge of a cliff: Getting Ready!

A Poem by PP
"

"Edge of a Cliff" is collection of poems and "Getting Ready" is the first in line. I will be posting the following parts subsequently as and when things happen. Enjoy!

"
She stood on the edge of a cliff
Ready to take the plunge,
She daren't look down, to avoid the frown
She knew not what is about to come.

On the edgy grounds, as she staggered
A rock or two slipped from beneath her feet
And dissapeared into the grey.
As she regained her composure
And prepared again for the jump,
Her heart was pounding with million beats
And blood gushed into her icy palms.

"fear not" her heart sang to her,
But it wasn't loud enough, so she couldn't hear.
Building apprehension of the unknown and unseen
Was monumenting her mind, when she turned around
Found what was holding her there.

It wasn't fear of the coming,
It was what she was leaving behind;
Memories of far and near
Tearing her apart.
And she once again prepared to take the plunge...

Our fears often deny definition but thrive upon us like carrion birds. You have captured this feeling very well and this is an excellent piece of work.

Thank you Amar for your review!
It's not jumping. It's learning to fly. :)
