Nobody

Nobody

A Poem by Paul Seaman
"

inspired by a shirt Linda Ronstadt wore...

"

Nobody

I am nobody

       today

       tomorrow

       forever.

I am nothing

       Special

       Sweet

       or Divine.

I live

       with borrowed time

       and rented spirit.

I exist

       without honour

       grace

          or

       worth.

This is true

   I can not

       deny.

Yet

how do i raise my head

       above the pillow

   and ascend

       to the next day.

There is a grace honour & strength

       in every sinew

              of my body.

There is wisdom knowledge and self-sacrifice

       in every orb of

          light, I see...

There is a duty beauty and sublime satisfaction

       in every breath

          I breathe.
