Love & Hate among the Ruins

Love & Hate among the Ruins

A Poem by Paul Seaman
"

just saw the ravages of both, the moment i awoke

"

Love & Hate Among the Ruins

Long past infatuation

   well past disposal.

Love & Hate, the same sides -

       of different coins

   of devotion.

We love to hate

   and we hate to love.

for one is a seductive pleasure

that only leads to our demise -

and one is an extreme danger

that only leads to our heart

          being split

              by 2.

Yes love can transcend Hate

Yes love can heal all  --

but the price of such journeys

is the dissolution of all we

          ---  as such ---

                     are..

and the rewards

       are ambiguous --

CODA:

Love and Hate Among the Ruins

          of the human condition

          one a building block

          one a wrecking ball

             --- you choose ---

       which instrument you need

          to be born,

              again.
