Reptile Brain

Reptile Brain

A Poem by Paul Seaman
"

... who I am dealing with....

"

Reptile Brain

       I worship Satisfaction

       I crave warmth

   I detest pain

       I avoid suffering

no matter how much

       it costs me.

I lay against the smooth rock

       warmed by the sun

   and plot

       my next acquisition -

       of pleasure

   and strategize

       my next avoidance

          of pain.

for i am but what -

       a reptile brain !

Well, I seem to fight the desire to just lay in the sun and fill every orifice I can !
