If we run from our Memories, they catch us !

If we run from our Memories, they catch us !

A Poem by Paul Seaman
"

Musings on an Early Sunday Morning

"

If we try to run from our memories

We run from ourselves

       and meet again

at the beginning.

With no progress

        no reward

        no victory

   over time.

As the saying goes

"Wherever you go, .. There you are !"

it is true

we get cues

from where we are

time stops

       at a feeling

            a sight

            a person

            a scent

from before --

But we must meet our fears

       our memories

   as an old friends

   and commune with them..

forgive them

and love them for what they are

a part of us...

our wisdom

our growth

our pain

Every soldier

fights the good fight

to survive as a soul

I embrace you -

       my memory

I love you

       my brother

I heal you

       my destiny.
