Scars

Scars

A Poem by Persephone Blum

Scars.

Simple, white, soft, rubbery flesh.

I run my fingers

with long, damaging nails along them.

And despite the anger,

fights, fury, and tears

behind us,

I feel closer to you now than ever before,

For without fear you allow

my nails and hands

to travel over the flesh

That others have pierced.
