Stuck In Place

Stuck In Place

A Poem by Peter Castel
"

I wrote this sonnet recently because I’m going through something

"
You left, claiming that this was for the best.
So please, someone tell me why I feel worse.
You have put our relationship to rest,
But I still feel my heart’s about to burst.
I can see that you’re happy and thriving.
I witness that you’re truly living life
While I’m having trouble just surviving,
Distraught because I lost my future wife.
I hate how I love you so much, I cry.
I yell internally for you to come back.
I continue asking the question: “Why?”
“Why did she leave me and throw me off track?”
I look upon you and I get jealous
Because you’ve moved on. My pleas are pointless

the ending of love is always powerfully emotional, yet not always equal in its pain. It is tough to let go of the things that bring you comfort and joy, as well as love. But we are like trees living in nature constantly evolving through the seasons. Our leaves are bright one day, then gone the next. But its cyclical nature always returns bringing more leaves, and the animals to enjoy them and marvel at our majesty. But it is in our roots we truly find our strength. The are cragged and winding like the scars on skin, but each one makes us stronger. We need them to survive and be better for the next time. When our leaves will be even more beautiful. Keep writing and sharing your art to the world.

Good rhyming in this one. Getting dumped sucks, no two ways about it. Only after time has passed can we come to see it may have been for the best.
