Knee Surgery AppointmentA Story by PBensonDialogueDoctor: Hi Patrick, how has your summer been? Me: It’s been pretty good, thanks. How are you doing? Doctor: Fine, busy as always… Doctor: My son is working on his final project for his biomedical engineering degree. Me: Wow, he’s probably crazy smart. Doctor: Yeah he’s worked hard for it… Doctor: Well I have seen the x-rays for your leg, how does it feel? Me: Not very good, we shouldn’t have missed the appointment a while ago. Doctor: Yeah, let me take a look… (Examines my knee and looks for problems) Me: I was on vacation when I noticed that it felt odd to stand because it was becoming more bow-legged Doctor: I can tell, we would have caught this if you had come to your appointment in June. Me: I didn’t know this would happen, it kind of snuck up on me. Doctor: What grade are you in now? Me: Going into 11th this year. Doctor: And you are 16… We need to remove the plates which will hopefully bounce the knee back to a straighter angle. We are cutting it close but it looks like you are still going to grow, so, let’s hope for the best. Doctor: If it does not bounce back all the way we are going to need to add plates on the other side… Me: …When will I need to have this done? Doctor: Well we definitely need it done soon, September would be ideal. Me: Ok, thank you for your time Dr. Davidson© 2017 PBensonAuthor's Note
