#21- What's Eating You.

#21- What's Eating You.

A Poem by Paper
"

Knowing when to not know.

"
We've gotten close enough
To talk candidly about things like:

Intestinal states
After eating this or that.
The color of junk
We cough up when we're sick.

The friend who did something
We wish we spoke up about.
The injustices done
By many a sundry ex-partners.

The little thing that happened
Today.
That still irks you or me,
Tonight.

Or whatever night.

But lately, there have been
Topics started
Raised
Noted
Dismissed.

"Today was a weird day,"
You said, tonight.

"Weird?"
Like that night before.
And the night after.

"Yeah.  Today was weird."
And we leave it at that.

Weird, huh?
What can it be
That is so unspeakable?
That seems to be lurking
Somewhere
In the back of your mind
Whenever
I'm talking to you
Lately.

I'd like to think
You trust me
As I trust you.

But I know.
I shouldn't pry.
I just worry about you,
Sometimes, Miss.

And if you're not talking to me
About it.
I hope you have
Someone else to talk to
Because it feels like it's
Eating you up inside.
And it's hard
To watch you
Suffer.
