Two Myles Alone

Two Myles Alone

A Poem by P.H. Carver

Dr. Myles and his wife,
Lived with their son on the hill,
Three Myles alone,
Happy if you will.

Fast forward three years,
Dr. Myles alone,
With his wife on the hill,
The son is gone.

Sad and alone,
The Myles did wonder,
What could've been,
If son we're still here.

Three years ago,
Before son left home,
Father embraced son,
"Good bye Jarome."

With a tear in his eye,
Son said to dad,
"You're a saint, "he said,
"Saving the weak,
Healing the lame."

To mother he turned,
With greif in her eyes,
She embraced her son,

For one last time.

It's my second or third time of reading this and each damn time it's got echo's of Michael by Wordsworth, but infinatley more enjoyable and accessible. I still love it

A poem of separation and sadness. Kids grow up and leave home. Take a while to get use to the silence in the house. A poem of real life for most parent. A excellent poem.

I like this poem. I think a lot of young people cant wait to get out of their parent's homes. I even hear parents say "I cant wait for you to move out" but to tell you the truth I think all parents are afraid of losing there "babies" This is a great poem.

When we hear of a break in a relationship, does it make a difference that they parted courteously, with a final farewell? Maybe it does. A poem that deals with the ' I wish I had....'
