Ballad of Chaos

Ballad of Chaos

A Poem by P.H. Carver

 Unfortunately vast,

It’s out of control,

How long does it last?

It burns the soul.

Burning fast, Burning free,

It's on a roll.

 "Controlled chaos" they say,

To the man who lost it all.

 "Stay away from me man,

Stay away indeed,

I don't need what your selling,

I don't want any weed."

 Those who once,

Dressed clad in slacks,

Now roam ‘freed’,

from reality’s grasp.

 His family has tried,

To curb his addiction,

Alas to no avail,

Their voices were thin.

He used to comb his hair,

Before the drugs found him,

Now he just stares,

Eyes cold as tin.

 It’s out of control,

Turning the nice cross,

Wretched as a whole,

The ballad of chaos.

Some find happiness in chaos, some need it to thrive, some require it to live!!

Chaos can send us to unknown places. This is a sad poem. I know many who lost control. Find peace in drugs and booze. Most were dead before forty year old. Chaos can make the body old and tire before its time. Thank you for a excellent poem.

I feel the agony of what this poem is about. Addiction can leave a person in total chaos and alone.

The hopelessness that goes with addiction along with the realization that an addiction afflicts the entire family and whomever else the addicted has a relationship with. I'm also thinking it is absolutely up to the person with the addiction to make tthe decision to rid theselves of it, after they get through the physical ramifications, the cross and what it means is the way.

sounds like it's about not being in control....

This is a strong write --about a tricky subject really--loss of control is pretty scary now matter the catalyst--

When we lose all control, something else takes over. In it, one finds another perspective on the issue, urging us to take a different attitude to the situation. The drugs may be catalytic in the transformation, but it is possible to steer to where the self's nature wants to get to. One experiences such major changes either like a mysterious metamorphosis or a knowledge based experience. They both lead to the same end. A poem about changes.

All things in moderation ... Respect yourself .. Not everyone loses them self because of an occasional "smoke" .. Hard drugs certainly can destroy a life .. I don't get "Turning the nice cross" .. ... good thoughts to ponder !

I hear you ! .... Jasmine ...

i feel sadness but for some reason i also feel strength...i think its because even though he feels lost and is in so much trouble he still has the drive some where to change it around ...it was perfectly written and made me really think
