The Burden of The MaterialA Poem by P.H. Carver"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." Matthew 6:19 We are not our possessions.I am not my used notebooks or high school swimming trophies, I am not my pictures on the wall, Though these things are met with Affection they are not my Reflection they're just a Defection in need of Correction and will never be Perfection or a moral Direction, They are like an Infection, Ever seeking my Protection, Yet this burden I still make Reaping what I sew My image is fake, I just need to let go, They are causing me to break, But I still let them grow, All these things on my wall Causing me to ache Keeping me opaque All these things on my wall... Are keeping me awake © 2014 P.H. CarverAuthor's Note
