I'm done, Wendy.A Poem by OzymandiasPeter Pan grows up in my story, and becomes a nurse, like me. Draw whatever similarities you will.
This is a letter from your Peter Pan.
Dear almost-Wendy, I've lost you somewhere along the way, I'm writing you this to tell you that you still matter, even if we ran away, washed away, scattered in the breeze, like falling autumn leaves. I'm done, Wendy-love, I'm done playing in the dirt I'm done getting hurt, I'm done with the boyish curls, I'm done chasing pretty girls. I'm done believing in fairies. I'll put the little wooden sword away now Wendy-love, and hang up my green felt hat, it never suited me. I'll put on proper clothes and I'll even wear shoes now. I'll stop running, so much running... I'm ready to stop pretending I'm a pirate, pretending I can fly, pretending... I'm not lost anymore, Wendy love, I'm grown up now, I've got responsible, I do medicine rounds now Wendy, I wear a uniform and I care for people. I've learnt to put others first those more in need, oh Wendy, why wasn't this clear before? Wendy, love, I'm not going to beg for something you maybe can't give, I'm looking for you, Wendy my love. It's time we grew up, it's time we got sensible... Wendy, your dress is dirty, where are your shoes? Your hair's a mess, Wendy have you been in the puddles? There's paint on your face, Wendy... ...I guess I'm the only grown up now, you've got a long way to come. I'm sure you'll do fine Wendy, I know, I know, you go and play now. I'll always love you Wendy, but I've come so far and I'm afraid of leaving you behind. All my love... Always and never. Yours sincerely; Peter. © 2011 Ozymandias |
