Quiet Panic

Quiet Panic

A Screenplay by JBlanchard
"

An incredibly short scene where someone's lost something - written during a workshop with Ann Gallavan, former Script Supervisor on The Bill.

1. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

JACK is scrambling about in the magazine rack; he's looking for something. KATE wonders in, flinging her bag over her shoulder.

KATE
What are you looking for?

JACK
Oh, you know, the...er...remote.

KATE
(gestures) It's on the sofa.

JACK
(looks up) Oh yeah. Stupid me.

Jack gets the remote, switches on the TV.

KATE
How're you getting on with my bible?

JACK
(pause) Yeah, great. Interesting stuff. I'll finish it soon.

KATE
It'll help you out. It did me.

Jack gives a forced laugh. Kate joins in.

KATE
Right, I'm off. I'll be back in a couple of hours.

Kate kisses him on the cheek, then waves as she leaves. Jack waits until he hears the door click closed - his face falls. He goes back to the magazine rack.
