We are the children

We are the children

A Poem by Owlsnest

WE ARE THE CHILDREN

We are the children of broken minds,

Who have seen it all and survived,

Lost in the bottom of an empty bottle,

We stalk the night, full throttle,

Seeking out an empty bed,

Looking back on the homes we  dread,

Nostalgia strikes and we feel the pain,

Remembering those we use to call friends,

Lulled into cheap hallucinations,

Spawned from a safer generation,

We are the future of our nation,

Treading the land, we see no inspiration,

We’re the broken, the damaged,

The leftovers, rubbish,

Unwanted, un-needed,

Our trees of success, unseeded,

We are the future, are you proud?

So we’ll say it now and we’ll say it loud,

We are the children of broken minds,

We’ve seen it all and we still survived.
