Beautiful Stories, Ugly TimesA Poem by Owen AldinSeeing the good through the badBeautiful Stories,
Ugly Times Raise your head, You will see, Only beauty, If you can dare to dream. Illustrate in your mind, With an apartment, Smashed windows, Hinges without doors, Two fragile beings, Left shaken but standing tall. Faeces smeared, All over the floor. A stench and musk, Even the homeless would refuse to ignore. With a fight in the distance, She walked so many miles, To get the boy to the sitter, Work unthinkable hours. At the end of the day, Post toil and pain, The mother and her child, Share a fairy story, Continuing to be brave. Beautiful stories in ugly times, Let's dry those tears, And make a smile. © 2016 Owen Aldin |
