![]() HomelessA Poem by Owen Aldin![]() Misconceptions of homeless people![]() Homeless Dirty, smelly, filthy, Just words? Words we can use for ourselves. We get dirty in our gardens. Smelly when we run. Filthy when we clean. But words cannot hurt the homeless. Moving from corner to alleyway, Box to gutter. Yet we watch, And laugh, And scorn. But why the reaction. Of all the evil in our lives, They are the most harmless. They do not take our freedom, Nor our strength or dignity. They embrace us with politeness, And the gift of a smile. They aim to provide us, With positive emotions, Entertainment, Which they offer for free, And yet we still choose, To, ignore, laugh or dismiss. Yet all of this without knowing their story, A story to surely appreciate. So next time take a second, And think ‘homeless’, ‘harmless’, ‘human’. Give something back, For their donation of positivity, Presented to you. © 2015 Owen AldinFeatured Review
