The Anchor

The Anchor

A Poem by Nashville Rose
"

Sometimes it's hard to pull yourself back up, and all you can do is hang on for dear life.

"

The sea sings its deadly song

And the water feels like ice

I can't be pulled in yet

I must pull through this tide

This chain holds me here

Heavy, iron and rusty

I can't be pulled in yet

The whole crew needs me

It would be better to give up

The currents seemed to mock

I can't be pulled up yet

I must stay here locked

I feel warm hands

They lift me onto the side

Out of the waters I come

And wait for the very next night.
