Wanderlust 2

Wanderlust 2

A Poem by Orpheus

Wanderlust

Second Installment

The City, In and Out

--

We drive north

Following the highway

Far ahead

We see mans attempt

To reach the sky

Buildings

So many stories up

Smokestacks

Billowing already
This early in the morning

Cars join us

As we roll further away from home

Inside the city now
Surrounded by the shadows

Cast by the buildings

Blocking the dawn

Windows flash

With morning sunlight

Stores are opened

People coming out for a new day

On their way

To whatever life they live

We stop at a gas station

Filling to the brim

Not sure when we’ll

Stop next

Our journeys may never stop

Onwards again

The motorcycle rumbling angrily beneath us

As we start heading towards the west

Moving through crowded city streets

Listening to the cries and calls

Of these people

Who live so different lives

Chained to this one spot

One city

We move out the city

Driving onwards

To places unknown

Setting off once again
