Wanderlust

Wanderlust

A Poem by Orpheus

Wanderlust

First Installment

Taking off

--

Our breaths frost the air in front of us

As we stand outside on this chilly

October morning

With confident smiles on our faces

I rev the engine

Beneath us

The bike roars to life

An old Harley

Our bags on the sides

An unexpected trip

To no destination in particular

Wanderlust

Gripping our hearts

As we pull away from the driveway

Leaving our home

Locked and closed

Awaiting our return

But will we return?

Neither of us know

What we do know is

That as we drive out of our

Small suburban neighborhood

The dawn painting the sky above

A breathtaking panorama

Of gold, pink

Purple and black

Red streaks and yellow stripes

As we race underneath

This painting of colors astounding

Your arms wrapped around my waist

Head resting on my back

Both of us smiling in our carefree way

We know that this trip

Will be one

That we will remember

Forever

This trip to sate

Our never ending

Wanderlust.

Wonderful! =) I love the picture you painted of the cold, October morning & not knowing if you'll ever return home upon leaving. o= That's a gorgeous and exciting idea. Great job! ^___^
