Waking

Waking

A Poem by Orpheus

So tired
Eyes heavy
Everything so slow
Watching them go by
Tired of watching them
Ignore me
Yawn as they try to insult me
I've heard it all before
Turn my back on them
To a place I can call my own
But can't find it
Doesn't exist
No place to put my head down
World weary
Tired of hearing news
That doesn't impact my world
Tired of seeing others
Mistreat innocent people
Pushing them around
To make themselves feel better
As they fall to the ground
Waking
Slowly
To take action
Stop it all
Make the world right
Waking up
To end their pain
to stop the cruelty
Doing something
I wouldn't do
While still sleeping
Changing
To something better
Coming into who I was truly meant to be
Someone to stop it all
Stand up for the mistreated
Waking from a deep sleep
