The Beauty That's Already ThereA Poem by Orpheus
Its all there Right in front of our eyes But we can’t see it The beauty Of a cliff over the woods Only reachable By an old road My family knew about I think back To how you hand felt in mine The simplicity of that moment Nothing in the world could have broken it. A horror movie With your girlfriend Who screams And grabs onto you Without even Recognizing it, Something special about it, Something you can’t forget I haven’t. A wedding Surrounded by white lace Silk and satin Bells ringing People singing A moment of perfection Burnt into your memory. But people These days Fail to recognize What beauty really is Trying to hide it Behind gloss and colors Turning a look of innocence Into the visage Of a clown. It saddens me To see this happen Knowing But having to stand on the sidelines And watch it all be ruined By a material need So I stand Watching Looking for that beauty That doesn’t try to hide. © 2008 Orpheus |
