Lady of the Night

Who is the lady of the night?

This fine, starry sky evening.

Her,with thick red lips

And eyes that lore you in.

So fine, she is, captures everyone’s attention.

The lady molds herself to fit any desire

She’ll say anything that the ear craves.

Who is this lady of the night?

We watch as one young man falls for her spell.

A good man, white picket fence life.

Her image sparks an intense curiosity

And he follows her like a puppy on a leash.

He will follow any command, just for a kiss,

And looks up to her as if she’s twelve feet tall.

He bows down to her feet just to be near,

And what was once common sense dissolves.

The lady of the night has no morals,

And does not discriminate her evil doings.

She takes everything her victim has,

And strips him until he’s left bare.

In his infatuation with the idea of her,

He surrenders to her as if she was a God.

So the lady decided to take him to bed,

With loving being the last thing on her mind.

Under the covers, her kisses gives him the high

The man believes he’s in for the ride of his life.

That is until she reveals her true face.

In the fate of her demise, he slowly drowns.

There the man lies, lifeless as can be,

Another pool soul added to her collection.

In the distance she sees another naive face,

Who is this lady of the night?

I like the idea that not everyone is who they seem and that hiding behind your true self can lead to deceiving. I like the diction on this one. Especially with the word, "molds" in line 6. That word is grotesque! But it is what describes at how the "lady" changes physically. I love how the poem is structured into 8 stanzas, and 4 lines each. The imagery is very good! Excellent work!
