Tales of the Night

Tales of the Night

What dramas fall when the sun stays away?

What goes on in the eve?

What happens when bumps go out to play?

when shadows twist and weave?

Oh the fair folk fight.

A war twixt king and queen.

Those that hide casually appear in sight.

Dark haired cultist mutter spells obscene.

Amix the mundane things like the deer out to feed,

and the wolves howling lovelorn to the sky,

a drama unfolds in tales we read,

many we disbelieve and are invisible to the eye.

Science can explain and those are children's  tales in folk and lore.

Nothing stalks in the dark with slavering jaws.

Why then do we fear to leave our doors?

Or lock our windows without plausible clause?

Tales of the night,

things that make us go white with fright.

Bothersome nightmares in stories to gruesome to say,

when those tales in the night come out to play
