Darkthorn Town

Darkthorn Town

"

Frozen in time, among the mountain pass

Darkthorn town lies like frozen glass

No soul stirs and no soul sleeps

And a sadness echoes, cold and deep

The men stare into cups long into the night

Drying to drink away the feeling that something, isn't right

And the clawing wind roars and hisses like a maddened beast

And the townsfolk gnaw on a barren and spiteful feast

Like the ice like the snow

Something is wrong to what none could know

Hidden deep away in  layers upon of layers of fear

Piercing the hearts like an icy and subtle spear

It lies in every attic of everyman's homes

In the hearts of men in children's tale in fantastical tomes

In the ice they trod as they stare into the embittered sky

From cradle to grave where their beloved members lie

The town lies barren as the hopes who stay

Abandoned by great and heedless to those who pray

A madness the smothers love and leaves the miserable to drown

Beware your stay in Darkthorn Town

Not exactly a tourist attraction is Darkthorn Town. The vivid descriptions of the town and the attitudes of the people certainly match the towns namesake. Your well written poem doesn't harbor much hope for the townspeople. They seem trapped in their own desolate thoughts. Your words portray a unforgiving trance on the side of evil that has captures the poor inhabitants hearts and souls.

You create mystery, question and unknown. I liked the above lines a lot. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I can see how epic music inspired this; it is very epic and grand in tone. It feels... I don't know the words for it. It doesn't feel perfect (see what Doodley said in his review), but it is still a very good write. It could be polished a bit, which could be a way of improvement by seeing what you think could be better. Keep it up!

A nice write.

A very nice idea. Mostly well rhymed. Needs a close edit. A few words do not quite fit.

Nice description and images.

Good job.
