Effacement

Effacement

A Poem by Anna Auel

Paying daily reverence

to machine dreams

thoughtless electronic buzz

Then

Coalesce the sunshine and the shade.

Spread branches over my head.

Concealed

I don’t know that I’ll ever go anywhere.

Hiding in my skin like a stranger.

And all this to say I am weary of not being taken seriously,

In a world where everyone (seems)

to have their s**t together.

I am the product of my atmosphere

A blend of the sacred and profane.

Taste my coffee with a spoon

Bitter/elating

Percolating.

I am the harbor for the wanderer,

I catch the spindrift with my tongue.
