The Titanic

The Titanic

A Poem by Scrawlid
"

.

"

We started out as one ship-

full to the brim, innocent kids
with dreams, aspirations, not yet
touched by the down sides of social nets;
Without drugs, we were flying high
at top knot speed, happily proclaiming
"We'll be together, forever, no good byes".

"Indestructible!" they had cried.
None giving a thought, to the implications
of indestructability- considering it possible
to defy gravity, who could blame the nations?
Reality coldy struck, sent by Nature- the game,
to keep her children in their place, in shame
as a reminder, who here is always superior.

Divided, we fought, friends and foes alike
over the few cherished boats to preserve our own lives
Even love could not stand in the way
As we succumbed to our own naiivete.
Once claimed, we did not look back
to observe the remaining, needing to be saved.

Some with a conscience dedicated to share
coexisted with passengers, despite dislikes
and bore through, together, closer than ever.
And the troupe, we claimed, as we sailed away
to never say goodbye, sailed- in separate ways
Without further though, or looking back... even inside
We dared not even wave.
