Excert from "Ascension Tower"

Excert from "Ascension Tower"

A Story by Harrison Sherif

"I've lived a long time, but one thing has been constant in my 67 years of living on this unforgiving world, Walls. Ever since the Insurrection took place before I was born, the worlds governments built the walls. They built them to protect us from the savages. The time came when the governments collapsed leaving behind villages barricaded by walls. We became self sufficient, collecting the bare basics for survival behind the walls. We hide behind the wall, hoping that the savages on the other side stay on the other side. As I lived through my live, those very same walls started to fall, exposing us to the savages on the other side. We keep thinking that if we stay behind the walls, then everything would be okay. But the walls are becoming fewer and fewer. Soon there will be no walls left to hide behind."
