Hope is a thing with wings?

A port in the storm? or a

Seabird? an albatross?

An angel.

I think happiness has wings too, but it

Doesn't manifest in the same ways -

Hope appears 

As a light on the horizon, 

As redemption, 

As a kind of abeyant 

.

saving grace;

.

It appears like a life-raft, 

A preserver, 

A ring upon which 

One can clutch. 

.

.

On the other hand, 

.

Happiness appears like a songbird,

Like a chickadee, 

A swallow, 

And it lights upon the branches of your life

.

Only after you've exited everything 

that might have cause 

.

to scare it away.

.

.

Spring has always been 

The season 

.

            for such things 

 to suddenly grace the world.
