.
. . "Don't forget to grieve." . . A small child From another life Waves farewell, fading Into the background . As his counterpart sets out - . . Slight fingered, small, With simple clothing, A simple haircut, and Easy, sun-bleached hair. . . "Don't forget to be sad." . "You'll be gone for a long time," "So don't forget to cry." . . His small voice echoes out, A painless tenor, An unblemished note. As he speaks, his lips do not move. . . It's easy to dismiss a child, and I do, Especially when - as he quietly waves Goodbye - he deigns, so, to proffer Such juvenile advice. . I have no idea what he could mean And so I ignore him; I bite down Until my jaw locks, Face into the cold, snapping wind. . It's no surprise I've grown older everyday, since then. . . .
