Therein lays the problem -

To save, to rescue,

Is to project a sense of superiority

Over the person being rescued.

It isn’t my notion - I cannot claim an idiom - 

But it is the problem that I now must navigate.

For my dilemma

Is that I truly want to help:

I want to make a difference,

I want to solve your problem,

.

Damnit, I really want to help you …

.

But in so far as I’ve been a teacher

I can clearly see

That a person doesn’t really learn anything,

That the lesson doesn’t stick -

.

.

                Not a lightbulb nor a bell -

.

.

Unless it's the student that’s doing the teaching

And they learn the thing, themselves.
