...A Poem by Ookpikhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hg5oEPIgaM&ab_channel=BenHoward-Topic. . . He was just dipping a toe, Just dropping a foot, Wading, In the shallow edge Of the river’s blackened waters. . But every time he dipped He wanted to go a little farther - From the sole, to the heel, Into climbing his Achilles Up, beyond his ankle. . . It’s hard to live on the shore, Drink mojitos, read little books, When you know the water’s there. . Amor Fati, Sure: . Love One’s Lot in Life. . . But he’d, then, already learned What it meant to be submerged And wading in the shallows, Even for a paycheque, was a practice . That would incessantly leave him Both dissatisfied, and disturbed. . . Swimming takes practice
- Experience - and in
some rare Cases, It takes study. . And in truth, he was
wading now So that later, When it was asked of
him to swim, Then, he would be
ready. . . . © 2022 Ookpik |
