Sooner or later - love and hate.

He’d been waiting for it to happen, 

For the gap to finally close -

That disparity between

Who they wanted each other to be -

The fantasy, wish-fulfillment -

And the winded disappointment

That suffered 

The vexing, partialities

Coinciding with 

The inescapability of reality.

He bored her, she found him tedious, predictable. 

She aggravated him, he found her entitled, irritating.

What began with excitement, ended in disappointment.

And they’d both found themselves glad

That they’d managed to escape

The dysfunctional 

.

Entrapment 

Of each the other’s 

Commitment.

They were done before they started,

And now, at least, they both knew it.
