...A Poem by Ookpikhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoQnHTNe2hU&ab_channel=LoreenaMcKennitt-Topic. . . (author's note: indulging in some fantasy - I'm not 100% on board with the idea that ever-after always works out.) . . She didn’t want him Because he made her feel wanted - No shallow ego satiation; . She didn’t want him because he’d be easy to rule - Not for some mediocre exchange; . She didn’t want him for his emotional security, His insights or the uncanny way That he seemed to see what she was thinking; . She didn’t want him for status, his means, Not for wealth, not for gain, Not as some material investment On a future that she might prompt him Into perilously building for them; . She didn’t want him for his body, Scarred that it may have been; Not so that they could share in their insecurities As the fruits of a budding Mutual co-dependence; . She didn’t want him for his animism, Neither his heritage nor culture; Not for his name; not for rings; Not for garlands; dresses; . Not for any bouquets. . . She just wanted him - in a way That transcends words. And so, as such stories go, it was nearly overnight And just like that, that he’d made himself . Unquestioningly, voluntarily . Hers. . . .
