Ought belong together - solely because

Politicians have as little love for poems

As poets do, for politics.

And because, I’ve always stood

In the Kierkegaardian sense, as adverse

To the crowd

As through individuation, I could possibly get.

This will mark an epoch: which means the standard

That you’re writing against

Has been set

By the likes of Yeats’ Second Coming

Or By The Wastelands of T.S. Elliot.

It has to be as outstanding as those that precede it

And just as absurd
