Compacted into such small, delicate spaces?

It’s a shocking thing to see -

Surprising, really -

Those that can endure so much,

Such pressure

Of that which is so dark,

Without cracking

At the edges,

Having worked in the mental health field for 27 years, I can testify that there are a fair number of us who can't deal with that dark pressure and do come apart rather badly. Still, that so many of us do stand in the trenches day after day and get the job done is worthy of an acknowledgment such as this one.

Cracked vessels, eh?

It might be, by now, somewhat of a cliché image but it still amazes me the extent to which human beings can endure.

Almost as though it's the flaws, and the extent to which we can all share in them, that make the condition admirable.
