.
.
.
And after it all,
.
It rained.
.
.
It rained a weight
.
The likes of which
.
He’d never really seen -
.
.
Buckets upended
.
From the edge of heaven’s precipice,
.
Torrential in its deluge and
.
Cast from beyond the firmament.
.
.
And while he watched it fall,
.
Dampening summer’s desiccation and
.
The arid odor of the concrete,
.
.
He too, cried -
.
Subsisting his small residues, alongside
.
The laden cascade of a sea.
.
.
He too, cried,
.
And a decade, too, fell with it -
.
.
Not from grief, not falling for joy,
.
Not for pain, or abandon or disbelief,
.
Not out of an empty despondence
.
Or for the benefit of an emphasis
.
Against the cliché of the rain-motif,
.
.
But when he cried, just then,
.
He cried from a place of relief -
.
Falling,
.
For all of the years that’d long since passed
.
And for all of the things that he’d seen.
.
.
.
