Author's Note

My secret little fantasy is that I want to earn my teaching certification, buy a cabin in the far north, and just settle down there.

I've been encouraged to consider graduate school, by a number of my professors, but the harder I work, and at the end of the day, that image of the cabin is all that I'm really looking forward to.

Interesting take, Ook. I once fantasized about being a lighthouse keeper, just to get away from all the hassles. Never came to fruition. Reality set in. But if you do get that cabin, make sure to have the RCMP check on you once in a while. Gets really cold up there, I hear.

I know the feeling, John, I still fantasize about being a lighthouse keeper (ironically, the credentials for being hired as one are much more extensive than I'd have thought).

And yes, a cabin far enough from town to have privacy, and yet close enough to teach is what I had in mind - though if I'm being honest, visits from the RCMP wouldn't exactly be a welcome thought.

It is cold, though - I'm thinking either the Yukon, or back to Nunavut, where I was raised.
