... (best 2021 - III of III)A Poem by Ookpikhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIapcrtyR_Y&ab_channel=LisaMitchell-Topic. . . I . . . I still have to quiet . This joy, and disbelief - . Temper the sudden changes . In temperament, with repetitious . Mantra, recital and leitmotif. . . They call this 'the honeymoon phase' - . Love's paired likeness and fresh onset - . . Where mornings can last forever . And daylight's fingers represent . Intrusion . Under the taffeta curls of dawn-cotton sheets, . Past the silken curtains, and into the gilded reprieve . Of these breakfast-in-bed-mid-morning, . Satin-laced and silver, molten daydreams; . . . II . . . When I just get to watch you . Laying, . As the touch of shadows pale . Across the curvature of your shoulders, . The delicate shape of your stomach, . Navel, knees, hips, ribs, . And the glib canvas of the bedframe; . . Where the way you look at me . Touches briefly upon eternity - . Not in that it might last forever . But will last, if only more than temporarily, . Always, over the mantle of my memory. . . And I have to be-still my heart - . Quiet the quick in my pumping pulse - . For fear of disrupting the camera - . Interrupting the union in this shared lens - . Where we both get to capture, . To cherish, this short chance in sweetness . That is savoring the sensation . . Of falling into love again. . . . © 2022 OokpikReviews
