. . . What did I learn? . . That we are defined . By the choices we make . In this, here, . The absolute presence . Of the absolute present. . . All that matters, . All we are . Are the choices we make, . The ones we choose to love, . The ones who learn to know us - . . The ones we let in . And the ones with whom . Are formed . Such intangible connection. . . At the end, . The very end, . That is all that is important, . That is all that will fall from mind. . . It all relies on choice . . And there is, truly, very little more . And so vastly, impersonally, less. . . .

This is how Sartre might have sounded if he had given a damn about clear communication. Our lives are mainly the result of choices we have made. Of course, this doesn't account for lightning strikes and clouds of locusts, but in the main, we choose our fates. Choice is especially important in what we think, for thoughts precede actions, and so if we dwell in negativity, we might predispose ourselves to misfortune.

But yes, I agree wholeheartedly - too long spent in negativity, and we wind up wasting what precious little time we have to find enjoyment, and reason in it while we're here. Adversely, too much time spent in the positive and we find ourselves unprepared in those moments where lightning does strike, or locusts do descend - it seems an oddly finite balance, this thing, and have come to realize that what makes it so profound is we're at the liberties of our own free will as to how we decide to navigate it.
Thank you again for the review John, much appreciated.

I've been working on that particular habit - sedation - when reading, I only ever seem to make it through the first four pages before I slip into incomprehension, same said for writing really, or reviewing.
Suppose it's only a practical choice if you're prepared to suffer the consequences of forgetting to care. Bit funny really, if I were to read Sartre sauced I imagine it'd be a lot like reading a manuscript in a language I didn't understand, and the ramification would be that I'd never learnt it.
