I'd wage war on that.

I'd take ineptitude

Deep into desperate combat.

I'd betroth you its throat;

I'd present to you its head.

Because if I couldn't,

I'd rather prefer the adept impressionability

Of being remembered

By virtue of being dead.

this quite reminds me of a certain politician in the current climate.
Already having lost his head due to ineptitude...and yet...his circle hasn't learn to mutiny yet...or are afraid to.
i like the ending...which also brings me back to another interpretation...and speaking with praise for the dead, how poets often don't get the recognition they might deserve until they expire...
then there poetry is on fire...and everyone is burning to read it.
