II.VA Poem by Ookpikhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4dak4W0_P4Trust is an odd thing. ... It's not something That can be bought or sold. It's not something Most people simply give away Nor is it something That can be stolen. ... Like love Trust is something that grows. Trust can only be earned. Like the layers of ice That form over the local pond. The fruits of Winter's labour. ... Though Trust Is not something that can be worked for. Like frost it forms naturally And no manner of Liquid nitrogen Can speed that Process. ... Trust Is like a house of cards That builds itself. And like houses of cards Or castles made of glass Trust is something That can very easily Fall in on itself. ... Trust is something that can be sabotaged Before it even has the chance to grow. ... In my case the irony is that It was the truth that planted the C4 Or knocked the dominoes over. And it was my past That lit the fuse And sparked the detonation. ... I shouldn't be surprised. ... A past like mine is volatile And its hard to mix combustible materiel With anything but More fire. ... I understand that. And I may be jumping to conclusions But how can I build trust When the truth is hard to hear? And why do I always jump the gun In the face of everyone I meet? Why do I always confess to the things I've done Before I get the chance to fall in love? And why is it so easy to forgive myself When everybody else Turns and Runs? ... There are worse people. I should know I've met them. ... Maybe that's why? ... Maybe even though I am no less Than a minor antagonist, No better than the anti hero And no more Than what I am. ... But maybe what I am Is not the man To build a loving Vatican? ... Maybe my fate Is to live and die alone. ... Not by myself. ... But surrounded by people That make me want To wave one's last farewell. ... Not before the next life But before the next stage The next page Scene, act or sequel To this story I am living But cannot find the courage To write. ... What a coward I turned out to be. ...
