A Screenplay by Nathan Weaver
"

2113, an uprising of Neo-Nazis overthrow the German government and two American spies deep undercover in Germany are presumed dead. The only link left behind is a diary of the Neo-Nazi's events and plans that only their children can decipher.

"

EXT. GERMANY, DAYTIME. The year is 2113. NEO-NAZIS begin the overthrowing of the German government.

EXT. AMERICAN HOUSE #1, NIGHT.

INT. AMERICAN HOUSE #1, MOMENTS LATER. ADAM sits in his entertainment room, he pulls up golf on his TV. It’s a recording of him playing during the daytime.

EXT. AMERICAN HOUSE #1, MOMENTS LATER. MEN dressed in STEALTH, with automatic weapons scale his wall, disarm and get passed the security guard and cameras. They rush across the yard; at the front door, POINTMAN picks lock and they enter. ADAM is in the kitchen now, they enter the kitchen and gun him down mercilessly. CAMERA watches him fall over to the ground for a moment. CAMERA turns back and men are gone. CUT.

EXT. AMERICAN HOUSE #2, NIGHT. MEN dressed in STEALTH, with automatic weapons approach the house, CAMERA follows them freely. JESSICA walks by a window, turning off the light in the living room and heading up the stairs. The POINTMAN, with silenced pistol, signals another man to advance to the door. JESSICA turns lights off upstairs; POINTMAN gives MAN the signal and he picks the lock, POINTMAN enters smoothly and quietly. He moves to the bottom of the stairs. CAMERA pans left to see two men running around back of the house. POINTMAN is followed up stairs by the lock-picker. At the top POINTMAN leaves the man and moves into the bedroom. He moves in on JESSICA, who is in bed with eyes closed. Just before POINTMAN reaches JESSICA she opens her eyes, he grabs her mouth and puts the gun to her head. CUT.

EXT. AMERICAN HOUSE #2, MOMENTS LATER. LIGHT from gun flash is seen in bedroom. CUT.

EXT. GERMAN CAPITAL, DAYTIME. GENERAL CHRISTOPHE walks out doors onto a balcony, above her head a large NAZI flag unravels and flaps above her head. CHRISTOPHE raises her hands up and out (palms facing her face). The large audience of Neo-Nazi rebels and soldiers cheer and shout. THEME SONG plays; roll opening credits.

EXT. NEW YORK, SKYSCRAPER—NEXT MORNING.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM, MOMENTS LATER. ADAM wakes up from a very uncomfortable looking cot. He sits up. ENTER THREE SUITS, old gents.

SUIT 1
Rise and shine, Mr. Gold.

SUIT 2
Yes, we haven’t got all day. There’s much to explain.
SUIT 3
Shake a leg and follow us.

ADAM
Am I under arrest?

SUITS laugh.

SUIT 2
No, Adam. Come with us.

ADAM stands up. CUT.

INT. HALLWAY, MOMENTS LATER. SUITS and ADAM are walking along as they explain everything to him. SUIT 2 carries a folder he references from time to time.

SUIT 3
You are dead, Mr. Gold.

SUIT 1
That’s right, Mr. Gold. We faked your death.

SUIT 2
Unfortunately, there was just no alternative.

SUIT 3
It got the job done.

SUIT 1
It certainly did.

SUIT 2
Now they won’t know what hit them.

ADAM
Slow down please. I would appreciate it if we could take this a little slower and not talk all at once.

SUIT 1
That’s right, you’re the golfer.

ADAM
It’s just not every morning I wake up dead, thank you.

SUIT 2
Adam, what we really need to know from you is this:  are you willing to die for your country?

ADAM
I already did.

SUIT 3
That’s the spirit.

ADAM
Now, you said there was two of us right.

SUIT 1
Yes, you and your partner.

ADAM
And he’s dead, too?

SUIT 3
Yes.

ADAM
Then where is he?

SUIT 2
He’s a she.

SUIT 1
She’s with Team B.

SUIT 2
Team B has their own methods.

INT. MORTUARY. JESSICA is looking at her lifeless body with distress. THREE SUITS stand around the corpse. SUIT 5 has the folder this time.

SUIT 4
You’re dead, Ms. Prescott. In all practical senses of the idea.

SUIT 5
Your name’s in the obituary. Your family’s making funeral plans.

SUIT 6
There’s even a certificate of death.

SUIT 5
Yes, in a few hours this body will be shipped to your local funeral home for preparations.

SUIT 4
So you see, there’s not much to think about, now is there?

JESSICA
You guys are creeps. Just thought you should know. (looks at face of body) It’s ridiculous how much she looks like me.

SUIT 6
She is you in every aspect.

SUIT 4
Even down to your birthmark.

JESSICA
(looks up) Excuse me?

SUIT 6
You had an ex-boyfriend that bragged a lot.

JESSICA
Your mom brags a lot. (beat) So, what’s this jaw-dropping news you have to tell me?

SUIT 5
Your father isn’t dead.

JESSICA
What?!

CUT to ADAM, who just received the same news.

ADAM
That’s where you’re wrong. I went to the funeral!

CUT.

JESSICA
He faked his death?! I can’t believe this!

CUT to split-screen.

ADAM                   JESSICA
I was seven years old!                        I was only 5!
CUT to ADAM and TEAM A. They are sitting at a large table with papers, photographs and other things scattered about it.

SUIT 2
Are you gonna let us explain, Adam?

CUT to JESSICA.

JESSICA
You had better have a good explanation.

SUIT 5
A whale of a tale, Ms. Prescott, a whale of a tale.

CUT to ADAM.

SUIT 2
As you know, your father, Robert Gold, was an agent with the CIA. But what you don’t know is that was his cover. He actually worked for our department.

CUT to JESSICA.

JESSICA
But you are CIA, right?

SUIT 5
Yes, but it’s a little more complicated than that. Let’s back up a bit.

CUT to ADAM.

SUIT 2
At the end of the Second World War, President Roosevelt and others in Washington, D.C. had decided not to let that happen again. In the months leading up to the end of the war, secret meetings were held to discuss the future. The United Nations was one such idea to originate in one of these discussions.

CUT to JESSICA.

SUIT 5
They had decided that when it was all said and done, it would still not be over. An unauthorized and unofficial department within the CIA was formed. Its existence and purpose was to keep an eye out for defecting Nazis guilty of war crimes, Nazi sympathizers and possible underground resistance.

CUT to ADAM.

ADAM
So, like Neo-Nazis? Rebellious teens that shave their heads?

SUIT 2
We wish it were so simple. But the fact of the matter is it’s a lot uglier than that.

CUT to TEAM B.

SUIT 5
And much, much more complicated. Yesterday morning, or last night for us, an underground Nazi resistance overthrew the German government. Apparently, they had an army and plenty of sympathizers.

JESSICA
So, you’re little program to stop the Nazis didn’t work out as planned?

CUT to TEAM A.

SUIT 2
Two months ago our two inside agents went missing. One of which is your father.

ADAM
It’s very likely he’s dead, right?

CUT to TEAM B.

JESSICA
You fake my death to tell me my dad is not dead, but that he may now be dead. Talk about poor timing, guys.

SUIT 5
We have lost all communication with our insiders. They left us clues with their diaries, but the diaries are coded.

CUT to TEAM A.

SUIT 2
This is where you come into the equation. The diary is coded with stories from your childhood. We cannot decode the important clues left behind by your father and your partner’s father without your help and cooperation. The fate of our nation and possibly the world rests in your and your partner’s hands. Adam, can we rely on you?

CUT to TEAM B.

SUIT 5
We faked your death, because the Nazis were coming to kill you and your partner. You can help your father, your country and your future or you can start a new life somewhere and live in fear of the future. Which would you rather do? Look to the future or hide from it? (beat) Why do you think this girl is laying on the cold slab for you?

JESSICA
Because of a strong sense of nationalism beat into her head by her superiors.

SUIT 5
Let me put it to you this way; we have a third world war on our hands. If we don’t stay in tune with what the newly overthrown Nazi-Germany is up to, we will suffer great loses. Innocent loses. You and your partner are the only ones that can get us back on track, back in the game. If you don’t help us, then a whole lot of people are gonna die. You don’t have much of a choice, it’s a matter of ethics, so drop the ego and suck it up. Am I getting through to you?

BEAT.

JESSICA
You could have just said please.

CUE modern rock ‘n’ roll tune. CUT.

EXT. NEW YORK, SKYSCRAPER—DAYTIME. CAMERA comes panning in on the SKYSCRAPER, the camera continues to pan up SKYSCRAPER. At top of SKYSCRAPER we see an AIRPLANE on a helicopter-type pad. Doors open and out come several people walking (SUITS, TRAINERS, ADAM and JESSICA). CAMERA pans in on group of people and follows them towards the plane.

SUIT 2
Wait here, Adam.

ADAM stops, turns, looks to his left and sees JESSICA. She turns and looks at him as well.

ADAM
Jessica was it?

JESSICA
So, you must be the partner.

ADAM
I guess so. The name’s Adam.

JESSICA
Adam.

ADAM
Jessica.

SUIT 2
This way everyone.

The group of people files onto the plane. After a moment of them all being on the plan, the door shuts behind them. It slowly rises off the SKYSCRAPER, hovering like a helicopter. At a certain height, the thrusts kick in and it begins moving like an airplane flying forward. CUT.

INT. AIRPLANE. In a room that looks like a small conference room, the group of people shuffle in and grab some coffee from the coffee maker, etc. JESSICA eventually walks over and pours herself some coffee. ADAM stands back.

SUIT 2
(looking at watch) Alright, folks, let’s get out of their hair.

EVERYONE files out but SUIT 2, JESSICA, and ADAM.

SUIT 2
You have 30 minutes to get to know one another. Build chemistry. Part of your cover is that you are newly weds. Jessica this is Adam, Adam this is Jessica. 30 minutes. Oh, and in these files (places two files on conference table) you will find your covers and objectives. Learn your names, who you are. Just try to make what you find in these files come natural. From today until I tell you otherwise, you are no longer Jessica Prescott and Adam Gold. Remember, 30 minutes. Make it count.

SUIT 2 leaves the room, shutting the door behind him. The room has a wide window that shows the cityscape passing by. ADAM and JESSICA stand in silence for a while. JESSICA stirs her coffee.

JESSICA
This is pretty jacked up, right?

ADAM
Yeah.

PAUSE. JESSICA and ADAM look at the files on the table.

JESSICA
I don’t wanna look, do you?

ADAM
No.

JESSICA
I wonder if they’d turn back, if one of us got cold feet.

ADAM
Maybe. It wouldn’t be safe to have spies that are uneasy.

JESSICA
Right.

ADAM
But, then there’s the decoding thing.

JESSICA
Right. Lame.

As you can no doubt tell, this is a work in progress. This is a futuristic science fiction piece with an alternate history following WWII. I strongly consider this work as a computer animated piece.

Also, click on the thumbnail image I gave it--it's a beautiful computer animated piece of futuristic artwork.

I'll be totally honest with you...I have the worst time reading scripts. I am sure that this is fabulous, but I can't swim through it....I would love to see it when it is in performed form. Okay that didn't make any sense but you know what I mean!
