Bittersweet Love

Bittersweet Love

A Poem by OnesNvrEnough
"

"I love you to death."

"

There once a couple, a strong one in fact
Both, disconcerted and distressed,
developed an aversion towards the lives they lived

Homophobic remarks transfix their ears,
from most of the people they know,

even from the ones they trusted greatly
Hiding their love from their families was the hardest,
knowing that their parents would once again,

force the lovers to diverge

Painful and overwhelming thoughts defected their minds,
the pictures never left their heads
Every day the images got worse
The couple held each other as they inquired plans, solutions

One night, together they secretly laid entwined,
obsessing about the thoughts of running away

Smiles slowly inch upon their faces,

it was something they haven't experienced them in a long time,
as if the depression made them forget how to

The smiles shortly became soft laughter,

and their thoughts generated plans for their future

Their excited mood begins to fill the room with a bright vibe
The high energy works as a stimulant, keeping them awake,

until their bodies give out

Nightmares didn't raid them that night, nor did insomnia,
Future happiness was all their dreams contained

The striking of the door was their alarm the next morning
Still wrapped together, the lovers rise quickly
one of the girl's parents rush and break their grip they had from each other
Screaming and sobbing  escalates the farther away they get
Being dragged out the door from her lover breaks her more than ever,
They throw her outside, she hits the bleak ground
Tears roll down her face as she drives away from the house

Later that day she goes back
She checks numerous times to look if her lover’s parents were there
When she sees that they aren't, she runs straight up,

to the room she was just in earlier
Her heart stops beating for a second,

But then it starts to race wildly

Noticing half are gone,

she stares down at the pill bottle spilled on the ground,
and then to her lovers eyes
She bends down to collect the rest of the caplets,
she swallows them all

The couple hold each other once again, for the last time

Fading away, grins are they can muster,
knowing that finally they will be together forever
