Astronaut Moon

Astronaut Moon

A Poem by Drea Dawson

You made a memory with music
Fingers touching my lips,
Smoking and cruising
Driving down South Shepherd
Smiling into your hands
The attention was priceless
On a day you had no idea
was important to both of us

You told me with a song
To calm down,
Be patient
And I heard you,
I finally heard you
While you wove in ideas
for me to move closer
So I could come over,
You laid your love down
Like it was already happening
But you wanted to
direction the inevitable
And it made me drive faster
In my bright red vehicle
While the city lights
drew tracers
in the night sky behind us

Your fingers kept touching my lips
Oh, the softness
It made me want to
Rip out the gear shift
Just to get to your mouth again
To get to that wet wonderful, again
That place you guard like a bank
Made me want to rob you,
And it made me feel like a dirty old man

Your kisses thrill me
They make me drop my words
And scramble on the floor to find them
They are like sunshine honey kisses
And you shouldn’t be so stingy
Lover, sometimes you gotta give me
A little more of that tenderness

We sat below an Astronaut moon,
I even pointed it out to you
You claimed to not see it
From the moon roof in my car
But you saw the stars
And I just watched you
