Idle

Idle

A Poem by Drea Dawson
"

December 2011

"

I pulled dragons from my teeth
Then smiled to meet the sun
Waiting, always waiting
For someone

I was spinning the moon like a top
Close to the ground and I didn’t stop
But you stopped me with music
It was the way you used it

So many jokers in my path
My life littered with little distractions
Things made to make me stronger
Smarter, they say
I wish they’d just go away

I was spinning the moon like a top
Close to the ground and I didn’t stop
But you stopped me with music
It was the way you used it
