Sea Foam

Sea Foam

A Poem by Drea Dawson

I am an open flower in my adoration
And you,
The dark highway spread out before me
Both of us opening, and offering
But I feel like just a gas station

You would say it’s subjective
Effective way to make me think you are
Well spoken
But broken, you really hide beneath your eyes
Breathtaking oceanic seascapes are your disguise

And I’m not as deep in as you think
I’m not even near the brink
I’m covered in sea foam
This is my monochrome

Sometimes I hold you in my eye
I cradle your smile, framed by your dimples
I hold you for a while
And your face becomes a lattice
Constant self composure is what I practice
Especially when we say goodbye

You would say it’s subjective
Effective way to make me think you are
Well spoken
But broken, you really hide beneath your eyes
Breathtaking oceanic seascapes are your disguise

And I’m not as deep in as you think
I’m not even near the brink
I’m covered in sea foam
This is my monochrome

I am an open flower in my adoration
And you,
The dark highway spread out before me
Both of us opening, and offering
But I feel like just a gas station

Sometimes I hold you in my eye
I cradle your smile, framed by your dimples
I hold you for a while
And your face becomes a lattice
Constant self composure is what I practice
Especially when we say goodbye
