Out Of The Blue

Out Of The Blue

A Poem by Drea Dawson

You tell me our love is finished
at least for now
Until you don't know when
or if
It will even happen
You tell me you are a noble man
and I have bad timing
and you miss me terribly
and it made me cry like a fool

And if you ask me
I will lie
and say that I am fine
I will remind you
I'm made of a different metal
than the other machines
I may bleed
but I will hide it from you
with my quick words
and my silly humor

I have not the articulation
because the words
are not in creation
for how much I love you

I have not the argumentation
because your ears
are not listening
to my out of the blue I love you

I held the door for you
all these years,
no matter the weather
The door in my heart was open for you
a tiny crack
a sliver of light shined through

There were times
I wanted to invite the flood
because you were indeed a tsunami
and I've been afraid of drowning
but to hold your grin again
in my soft hands
to be the cause of such splendor
on the lips of such a mischievous man
makes me want to cry like a fool

I have not the articulation
because the words
are not in creation
for how much I love you

I have not the argumentation
because your ears
are not listening
to my out of the blue
I love you
